CompAir Shaft Seal Replacement – 9515125
Description
CompAir 9515125 – Shaft Seal
The CompAir 9515125 Shaft Seal is a sealing component used around a rotating compressor shaft. Its primary function is to prevent lubricating oil or other internal fluids from escaping from the compressor housing while also preventing external contaminants from entering the shaft area.
Working Process:
During compressor operation, the shaft rotates continuously at high speed. The shaft seal is installed around the rotating shaft and provides a controlled sealing interface between the rotating shaft and the stationary compressor housing.
As the shaft rotates, the sealing element maintains close contact with the shaft surface. This creates a barrier that restricts the movement of compressor oil from the internal oil circuit toward the outside of the compressor.
The seal must maintain its sealing function while operating under continuous rotation, pressure fluctuations, temperature changes, vibration, and exposure to compressor lubricant.
The shaft seal is particularly important in maintaining the compressor’s oil-retention system. Compressor oil is required for lubrication, cooling, and sealing of internal components. Preventing oil leakage helps maintain the correct oil level and protects surrounding components from contamination.
At the same time, the seal helps prevent dust, moisture, and other external contaminants from entering the compressor through the shaft opening.
During normal operation, the sealing surface experiences gradual wear because of continuous shaft rotation. Excessive wear, hardening, cracking, deformation, or damage to the sealing lip can reduce the sealing capability.
A deteriorated shaft seal may cause visible oil leakage around the shaft area, reduced lubricant level, oil contamination of surrounding components, increased oil consumption, and potentially reduced compressor reliability.
During maintenance, the compressor should be stopped, isolated, depressurized, and allowed to cool before the shaft-seal area is accessed. The shaft and seal housing should be inspected for scoring, wear, corrosion, contamination, or damage.
Before installing the replacement 9515125 shaft seal, the mating shaft surface should be clean and free from burrs or sharp edges that could damage the new sealing element. The seal should be installed in the correct orientation and according to the applicable CompAir service procedure.
After installation, the compressor should be operated and the seal area inspected for leakage. The oil level and surrounding components should also be checked to confirm that the repair has restored proper sealing.
Correct installation of the 9515125 Shaft Seal helps prevent lubricant leakage, protect the compressor shaft assembly, maintain proper oil circulation, reduce contamination, and support reliable compressor operation.
