Working Process:
When the oil-injected screw compressor starts, the Minimum Pressure Valve remains closed or substantially restricted while pressure builds inside the separator vessel. This allows the compressor to quickly establish the minimum internal pressure required for correct oil circulation and efficient separation of oil from compressed air.
As the pressure inside the separator vessel increases and reaches the valve’s opening pressure, the MPV opens progressively. Compressed air can then pass from the separator vessel toward the aftercooler and downstream compressed-air network.
Maintaining adequate internal pressure is important because the pressure difference within the compressor helps circulate oil through the oil-injection system. The oil provides cooling, lubrication, and sealing to the screw compressor element. The MPV therefore contributes indirectly to proper lubrication, temperature control, and reliable compressor operation.
During normal operation, the valve continuously responds to pressure differences between the compressor’s internal circuit and the downstream air system. It allows sufficient airflow while helping prevent the internal pressure from falling below the required minimum level.
When the compressor unloads or stops, the MPV helps isolate the compressor’s internal pressure from the downstream system and prevents unwanted reverse flow. This assists the compressor in maintaining the appropriate internal conditions for unloading and subsequent restarting.
